Progression Guide

This guide covers everything about leveling up, from the EXP curve to stat allocation strategies and catch-up mechanics.

Character level ranges from 1 to 99. The EXP required per level follows the formula floor(110 × L^1.40) — early levels are fast, and later levels require significantly more effort.

Level EXP to Next
───── ───────────
1 110
5 666
10 2,762
15 5,788
20 9,630
25 14,179
30 19,361
40 31,386
50 45,561
60 61,589
75 90,097
99 ~65,428

The curve is steep intentionally — the early game (Levels 1–20) moves quickly to let new players explore the systems, while the late game (Levels 50–99) rewards dedication. Zone 6 (Endless Rift) provides dynamically-scaled content all the way to 99.

These are separate systems:

What it affectsBase stats, zone accessSkill unlocks, job mastery
EXP sourceMonster killsMonster kills (same fights)

You earn both types of EXP from every fight. Job EXP is much faster — you’ll master a job long before out-leveling its zone.

  • Focus on one job at a time and master it before switching
  • Do your /daily login every day — the streak rewards compound significantly
  • Hunt in the zone that matches your level — don’t try to rush ahead
  • Use the rested XP system (log off in a town) to make each session count
  • Rotate between 2–3 monster types to avoid diminishing returns
  • Master multiple jobs to build a strong sub-skill pool (70% power carry-over)
  • Target monsters 2–3 levels above you for bonus EXP
  • Keep your gear updated — faster kills = more EXP per hour
  • Farm zone bosses regularly for their large fixed EXP rewards
  • Prioritize SPD and LUK stats to go first and crit often
  • Level Assassin or Ninja for the strongest PvP skill kits
  • Stay near the top of your zone’s level range to have an advantage in PvP encounters
  • Don’t neglect PvE — you need levels and gear to be competitive

When leveling, your base stats grow automatically. Your job’s stat multipliers determine your effective stats. Here’s what to prioritize in gear:

When you log off while in a town or safe zone, your character accumulates rested XP. This provides a bonus to all EXP earned when you return:

Time OfflineRested XP MultiplierBonus Hunts
< 8 hours×1.0 (none)0
8+ hours×1.7515
24+ hours×2.5 (max)25

Rested XP is consumed as you earn EXP. The bonus applies to both character EXP and job EXP.

Tip: Always log off in a town to take advantage of rested XP.

Cinder & Crown has several systems to help players who fall behind:

MechanicEffect
Rested XPUp to ×2.5 EXP multiplier after 24+ hours offline (25 bonus hunts)
Catch-up multiplier×2.0 EXP for players 3+ levels behind the server median (max combined ×3.0)
Diminishing returns resetDaily reset encourages short, consistent sessions over marathon grinding
Zone-appropriate EXPMonsters give bonus EXP when they’re at or above your level
Party EXP sharingNo EXP penalty in parties — all members get full EXP
Boss rewardsZone bosses grant large fixed EXP rewards (divided by party size²) on each kill

Logging in each day builds your streak, awarding escalating bonuses:

Daily login grants 65 base EXP + 15 × streak days (capping at 250 EXP), plus 30–100 gold.

Streak DayEXP Reward
180 EXP
3110 EXP
7170 EXP
12+250 EXP (cap)

Missing a day resets the streak to 0. The rewards scale with your current level — higher-level players get better equipment from streak milestones.
